Training and Services

There is an urgent need to remind healthcare professionals, who prescribe equipment, of their responsibility, both to their clients and to the long-term savings to health care budgets.

Training in the prescription and use of appropriate equipment, needs to take place at all levels of service provision.

This training needs to filter down to parents and caregivers who need practical information on the importance of using this prescribed equipment correctly. Helping parents and caregivers understand the need for correct seating is essential in the long term care of the child with severe disabilities.

Shonaquip offers training to therapists and caregivers. This training is independently and also in conjunction with the Provincial Administration of the Western Cape's Department of Health via the Provincial Mobility Assistive Advisory Committee. These courses are CPD accredited for health care professionals.
